Let's Meet Five More...

One week from today, our 2015 summer staff will be meeting on the deck of the lodge for the very first time.  This incredible group of counselors all come from different places, yet share the same goal:
To make summer 2015 the best summer EVER.

Introducing Zach, Lizzie, Sam, Madalynne and Austin!

Ayo! My name is Zach and I’m ready to kick start summer 2015 at Big Blue Lake.  This will be my 6th summer at Camp Pendalouan and 2nd year on Staff.  I attend Grand Valley State University where I’m studying Bio Medical Science; this Fall I’ll be a sophomore.  Words can’t describe how amazing camp is.  I’m always looking forward meeting new people and eating delicious foil dinners!  If I’m not working or studying, I’m out playing club rugby or doing an activity outside such as hiking or swimming.  Looking forward to meeting you all and sharing awesome memories!

Hi! My name is Lizzie and I’m from Zeeland, Michigan. I just finished my first year at Calvin College where I am studying Kinesiology. In my free time, I love to play rugby, watch sports, and listen to music. I’m super excited to begin my first summer at Camp Pendalouan! I’m most excited to spend time outdoors and to meet all of you!

Hiya, this is Sam all the way from sunny Wales in the UK. I’m nineteen years of age and have just finished my first year of university at Bristol (England) studying computer science. In my spare time I love playing loads of sports including cycling, tennis and sailing. This will be my first summer working at camp, but I can’t wait to get on the plane to fly over and meet all you great people at Pendalouan.

Hello Campers! My name is Madalynne and I can't wait to spend my second summer on the shores of Big Blue Lake. Last summer was amazing so I'm coming back for more! When I'm not at camp I love hammocking, meditating, and getting crafty. This summer I can't wait to spend more time with some cool day campers and make awesome paracord crafts. I hope I will have a chance to meet you all very soon!

My name is Austin Clark, I am currently a graduate of Royal Oak High School and will be attending Oakland Community College in the coming fall. I am a big advocate of athletics and healthy living, although i do love to have that ridiculously large bowl of ice cream every now and then. This summer will be my 5th summer returning to camp (finally a t-bird!). My favorite part about camp is the open feeling every one has and the relaxation it brings, where the biggest worry you have is if you remember to put bug spray on. I can't wait to meet all of the wonderful friends that i'm going to make this summer.

The Pendalouan Blog is a great place for summer camp news and updates.  Stay tuned for photos of Staff Orientation, the first week of camp and all of the summer excitement that follows!

Hail Pendalouan!

Need Support? Here They Are!

Time is truly flying by!  It seems like just yesterday we were starting the 5 month countdown until Summer 2015…

With only a few weeks left until session 1 begins, it’s time to reveal a few members of our 2015 Support Staff!

Meet Gretchen, Nora, Lila and Margaret!

A big Pendalouan hello from the shores of mighty Lake Superior! My name is Gretchen, and I am once again going to be spending my summer out on the dock of Big Blue Lake as your resident waterfront director.  I am a senior at Northern Michigan University with a major in Elementary Education, and this coming fall, I will be student teaching in a second grade classroom in Spring Lake. When I am not at camp, you can find me reading, hiking, playing ultimate Frisbee, or hanging out with my friends and family. This will be my 12th summer at camp and my 6th year on staff, and I am so excited to be coming back. As the snow/rain combo falls outside my window, all I can think about are the sunny summer days to come! I cannot wait to splash in the lake, make yummy s’mores, and sing all my favorite camp songs on the steps of the lodge with you all! Summer 2015, here we come!

Hello everyone! My name is Nora and I am so excited to get back to camp for another summer of singing songs, playing awesome games, and making new friends. This will be my eleventh summer at camp, and my fourth on staff. While I'm not at camp I am attending school in Ohio where I am studying psychology and equine assisted therapies. I also am a student worker at my schools barn, and ride on the equestrian team (can you tell i like horses?) This summer is also extra exciting because I will be co directing the Pendalouan barn and the Ropers and Wranglers program with my best friend Lila! Hope to see you there for some good old horsey fun!

HEY THERE PENDALOUAN!!!!!! Lila here, for my eleventh summer on Big Blue! This will be my fifth summer on staff at Pendy, and I'm moving out of the cabins and into the barn as your Co Equestrian Director!!! I'm especially excited for this summer because I'm fulfilling my eleven-year-old dream of running the barn with my oldest friend, Nora, who is looking at me like I'm crazy in that picture right there. It will be a year to remember! I can't wait to spend another summer pulling ponies around by their lead ropes, singing songs so loud that I lose my voice, doing chicken nuggets, staying safe in the zip tree, and (most importantly!) hanging out with campers. So hurry out to Big Blue, and don't forget to bring your overalls!

Hello everyone! My name is Margaret and I will be the health officer for this coming summer! I am from Grandville, Michigan but I go to college in Ohio. This will be my 6th summer at Pendalouan.  I am excited to see everyone this summer on the shores of Big Blue Lake!!

Five More Counselors Revealed!

DRUM ROLL PLEASE...
In 23 days a group of enthusiastic, free spirited and dedicated camp counselors will be meeting on the deck of the lodge for their first day of Staff Orientation.  Just like all of you, they’ve been counting down the days until summer 2015!

Meet Ursula, Alex, Monti, Alexa and Georgia!

Hi everyone! My name is Ursula and I'm so excited to be back to Pendy! I've been spending my summers at Pendalouan for 7 years, but this will be my first year on staff. At home near Chicago, Illinois, you could probably find me arranging flowers for a wedding or building a set for a play at my school. I love capture the flag, big blue lake, and meeting new campers! See you soon!

Hello readers, my name is Alex! This is my very first year as a camp counselor and I am amped to meet you! I am a senior at Grand Valley State University and am getting my degree in Elementary Education, and I'm loving every minute of it. I try to spend time outside every day doing all sorts of activities (running, hiking, yoga, swimming, volleyball, soccer, you name it). I play the saxophone, I love to learn, I love to listen, and I am lucky enough to have a great family/friend support system. POPCORN is the best thing on earth. I can't wait to spend the summer at the beautiful Camp Pendalouan.

Hello Everyone! My name is Monti and this summer will be my 2nd on staff and my 11th on Big Blue Lake. I'm from Muskegon MI, I was camper until I was too old, and then was hired as a counselor! The experience has been AWESOME!  I can't wait to sing all my favorite songs, meet new people and welcome all of the new faces to Pendy. I'm so ready play some Capture the Flag, cook those great foil dinners , and mostly help make everyone's summer on Big Blue something worth remembering.  I know that this summer is going to be fantastically amazing and I'm ecstatic to be able to share fun and awesome memories with all of you!

Hey! My name is Alexa, and I'm beyond excited to begin my first year at Camp Pendalouan!  In the fall I plan on attending Ferris State University up in Big Rapids.  I enjoy hiking, hammocking, and being outdoors in general.  But indoors I love reading, watching sci-fi movies, and playing cards! I'm looking forward to making so many new friends and having amazing adventures this summer on Big Blue.  I'm so excited to meet everyone!

Hey everyone! My name is Georgia and this will be my 4th year on staff, but my 8th year at camp Pendy. I am a junior at the School of the Art Institute with a focus in sculpture and performance. I am so excited to be back at camp, swimming in Big Blue Lake, singing camp songs, and being in the sun. In my free time I love to go on walks, explore Chicago, and eat good food! I am so excited to make new friends and new memories with you all! Camp is the highlight of my year and I've been counting down the days! I am so excited for Summer 2015 to begin!

Summer 2015 is so close we can almost taste the foil dinners!
