Halloween Camp

Halloween Camp is over and was quite a lot of fun. Campers arrived Friday evening and had dinner before a campfire and exciting Halloween Activities. There was a plethora of fun games to be played, crafts, a Haunted Trail and a Haunted House. Thanks again to the Petermans for putting together the House for us, the kids loved it!

Saturday was pretty cold, but a few brave souls went boating on Big Blue Lake. Pretty soon we will be closing up the boats for the season. The dock is already sinking, so we’re halfway there. The rest of Saturday featured choice times, a Dutch auction, and Capture the Scarecrow. Afterwards, a costume part with a lot of very cool costumes. Pictures will be up on the website soon.

Thanks to all the staff who came out to help with Halloween Camp. All the kids who came had a terrific time.

Now, our eyes turn to Winter Camp in December. Of course, throughout November we have school groups coming in, which means more kids having fun at Pendalouan.

In other news, the camp brochure will soon be done and printed. The question most people ask about it is “am I in it.” You’ll just have to wait and see.

Be sure to check the website and call in to register for Summer camp next year. We’ve got quite a deal! For a hundred dollar deposit, you get fifty dollars off and a Pendalouan hooded sweatshirt to put under the Christmas Tree.

Hope to see you at Camp!

What a Week ahead!

This coming Friday is Halloween Camp! This year we hope to have even more fun than last year, with a few new games to be played on Saturday such as "Capture the Scarecrow" and the skeleton hunt. This year we will have the Haunted Trail and Haunted House back to scare everyone, but not scare too badly. Remember to bring your costumes.

Lots of schools are here this week. The West Michigan Academy for Arts & Academics, Twin Lake's 4th grade, and Lincoln Park's 3rd grade will be here. This week we also welcome Dimondale Elementary's 4th grade for their first trip to Pendalouan. It is very exciting to welcome a brand new school and show them the power of Outdoor Education.

The action around camp has been fairly typical. Our rainy weather continues, the leaves continues to fall, and Dan has lost his radio. All in all, par for the course.

Be sure to check in next week to hear how Halloween Camp went, it's sure to be an adventure for all involved.

Two Weeks to Halloween Camp

That's right, everyone, Halloween Camp is just around the corner. If you'd like to help out or want to sign up for it, be sure to contact Camp. We plan on doing many things we've done in the past such as a Haunted Trail and House, but with some new activities as well such as Capture the Scarecrow.

The life at Pendalouan is pretty quiet right now as there weren't any groups in today. We have a pretty full plate this week, however, with all ages coming in to learn about the outdoors.

Surprise Surprise

Normally, I will only be posting here to tell everyone Camp news once a week, Sunday or Monday. But I felt a need to let everyone know we have had our first snowfall of the season! It is not sticking very well, but here was a light dusting on every outside surface this early morning.

Genesis of a Pendalouan Blog

Hello to the friends of Pendalouan! As you can see, we have been moving rapidly to catch up with technology with a better website and now a blog. We can only hope that it doesn't become obsolete too quickly. We need to put some mileage on it.

Camp is absolutely beautiful right now as the trees explode with color. The view on the other side of Beautiful Big Blue Lake is absolutely breathtaking. The air is brisk and more and more often holds the scent of smoke out of Nikana Lodge's chimney. The rowboats have been brought in for the season, and even Chauncey seems to be preparing for winter as squid sightings are few and far between.

October is not yet halfway over which means we still have Halloween Camp coming up. Last year was quite successful and we are looking forward to it this year. Staff are excited to dress up, perhaps more than the kids who will attend.

It is our hope to help keep you updated with the goings-on at camp. But there is more. Much more! Anyone wishing to may post comments on this blog, letting the Pendalouan world at large know how they are doing. It is our hope it will help you stay connected with the greatest place on the planet.

Please be sure to visit us this Fall.
